Organic Spanish Wine Production by Bodega Conde Sicilia

a dream come true ......

In the year 2000, José Conde Sicilia, a lover of nature, just by chance   whilst on holiday in the Northern part of the Sierra Nevada, came across some land which enthralled him. After finding out all the characteristics of the land he decided to buy 20 hectares.

Planting of the vineyard:
In the year 2003 he decided to plant 6 hectares of vines of the variety Tempranillo and Merlot, which flourish very well on this land and very soon they were covering the wire trellises. This is how the vineyard started and is controlled weekly by a skilled agricultural expert watching over the vines and the land to see they are in perfect condition for minerals etc… The ground is clayey with many loose stones which are ideal to maintain the humidity, but if the climate becomes very dry, there is no problem because the vines are irrigated by the water that has been collected from the melted snow from the mountains of the Sierra Nevada.
All the land has been certified for the production of organic agriculture. The climate is perfect, in winter the vines are covered with snow and in summer they are exposed to long hours of hot sun which is ideal for maturing the grapes.

The environment:
Both the vineyard and the bodega of Conde Sicilia are situated in the Northern part of Granada surrounded by three natural parks: Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Huétos and Sierra de Baza.

In the municipal area of Cortes and Graena, which is famous for it’s thermal spar with hot, healing waters. It is 30 minutes from Granada and 10 minutes from the Mediterranean motorway (A92)
